The Trenton High School Lady Bulldogs softball team improved to 10-7 overall, going 2-1 over the weekend in the Mid-Buchanan Softball Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs won their opening game over North Andrew, 14-5. Trenton lost the second game to Mid-Buchanan, 8-1, and defeated Tina-Avalon in the third contest, 6-3.
?It was a successful day for Trenton,? Head Coach Kris Ockenfels said. ?Trenton went 2-1 and brought home second place, our highest finish in three years.?
Ashley Hutchinson allowed four runs on six hits in the first game. She struck out nine batters while walking two.
Taron Brewer had three hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Amber Vandevender had a hit, two walks, two RBIs and three runs scored. Straussy Winters had two hits, two RBIs, three walks and two runs scored.
In the second game, Hutchinson gave up four earned runs on 10 hits. Vandevender had two hits, a walk and a stolen base. Brewer had two hits and Trenton?s only RBI.
Amber Daniels was the winning pitcher in the third game. She allowed three runs on five hits.
Vandevender had two hits, three stolen bases, an RBI and two runs scored. Brewer had one hit. Hutchinson had three hits, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Ashten Witten had two hits, two RBIs and scored a run.
?I thought both pitchers threw well, Ashley getting her eight victory and Amber her second win of the season,” Ockenfels said.
The Lady Bulldogs will host Marceline tonight at Griffin Field. There will be a varsity and junior varsity game. The first game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
