The Grundy County Health Department has announced its schedule of when officials will be giving flu shots to Grundy County residents.
High-risk clinics for those county residents who are at high risk for complications from the flu will be held on Monday, Oct. 21 from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Wise Community Center at Spickard; from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Galt Senior Housing; and from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Laredo fire station. A high-risk clinic is also planned for Friday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Grundy County Senior Center in Trenton.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, guidelines considered for high risk include being over 65 or having one of the following chronic health conditions: heart disease, lung disease, asthma, kidney disease, diabetes, a blood disorder, an immune system problem caused by disease or medication or a woman who will be at least three months pregnant during the flu season, November to April.
A public clinic is scheduled from 1 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4 at the Grundy County Senior Center.
Vaccine supplies are good this year and the health department expects to be able to offer the influenza shot to any county resident who would like one. Additional public clinics may be scheduled if vaccine remains.Eligible clients should bring their Medicare card for billing purposes. Persons not covered by Medicare will be charged $12 for the shot.
