Mr. Brown was born in Mercer County, in the Cleopatra community, on Feb. 15, 1910, the son of Claude and Anna Coker Brown. He was united in marriage to Henrietta Evans on June 21, 1939. She survives of the home in Unionville. Except for a short time working in Iowa and California, he lived in the Cleopatra and Powersville communities and was a graduate of Powersville High School. Following his marriage, he and his wife purchased a farm in the Cleopatra community and farmed there for 61 years before failing health caused them to retire and move to Unionville in October of last year. Earl loved the farm life and took great pleasure in raising livestock. Having no children of their own, the couple were very close to their nieces, nephews, cousins and neighboring children, who spent a lot of time in their home in the summer months and on weekends. Mr. Brown loved flowers and gardening. He attended the Powersville Independent Methodist Church, serving on their board, and attended the Broadlawn Baptist Church after moving to Unionville.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Brown is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins; and three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Biehl of Kirksville, Velma Swift and her husband, Harlan, of Cannon City, CO and Mary Varner of Powersville.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wilder Cemetery. These may be mailed to the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 316, Princeton, MO 64673.
