Cassie F. Barnes, an 78-year-old resident of Columbia and former Trenton resident, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Cassie F. Barnes, an 78-year-old resident of Columbia and former Trenton resident, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Columbia. Rev. Edwin Cole will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia.
Mrs. Barnes was born on Oct. 13, 1923 in Port Arthur, TX, the daughter of George Hall and Lucy Richard Fox. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and Port Arthur College. On Jan. 22, 1954 she married Lewis “Earl” Barnes. He preceded her in death. She was employed at Merchants National Bank in Port Arthur from December 1941 to January 1954. Mrs. Barnes was employed by Columbia Public Schools at Hickman High School from November 1971 to June 1985, when she retired. She was a member of Columbia Association of Educational Secretaries, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and AARP.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by two daughters, Marcia Baker of Dallas, TX and Mary Ann Seymour of Kearney; one son, Michael Barnes of Columbia; two grandsons, Matthew Seymour and Adam Seymour, both of Kearney; one brother, George H. Fox of Houston, TX; and one sister, Joyce F. Landry of Port Arthur, TX.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
