Trenton R-9 students in grades one through nine will take the Stanford 9 Achievement tests during the week of Sept. 16 this year, according to school officials.

Although Stanford 9 tests were given in the spring, students will take them again this fall, offering several advantages, including a more manageable spring schedule for students taking the Missouri Assessment Program tests, providing teachers with the most current indicator of individual achievement to adjust lesson planning, and allowing teachers to measure the impact summer has on individuals. Students will not be tested on material they have not had and from this point on, the Stanford 9 will be given in the fall. Stanford 9 test results are used for the Title I qualification process, as well as monitoring individual growth, therefore it is not possible to skip a year of testing.

Parents are asked to assist educators in preparing their children for the week of testing by making sure they don?t miss any days of school during the week, getting plenty of rest at night, providing a good breakfast and instilling a positive attitude about the testing process. Parents of Rissler students are asked to send a snack to school for each day of testing. Snacks may be sent each day or all at once on Monday. Snacks are a form of motivation, something to look forward to, so it is asked that they be something the child likes.

Missouri Assessment Program tests will continue to be given in the spring. Results from the MAP tests have arrived and will be sent home this week.
