Raymond Steele, an 84-year-old resident of Trenton, passed away Saturday evening, Aug. 31, 2002 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Raymond Steele, an 84-year-old resident of Trenton, passed away Saturday evening, Aug. 31, 2002 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 at the Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton. Burial will be at the Salem Cemetery, north of Trenton, with military honors provided by the Joseph L. Norton Post #919 VFW.

A scheduled family visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Steele was born on June 21, 1918 in Sullivan County, the son of Charles Raymond and Nellie Ferguson Steele. At the age of 24, he was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps were he served during WWII. On Feb. 13, 1953, he was united in marriage to Frances Hein at Fayetteville, AR. She preceded him in death on June 22, 1995. Mr. Steele was employed at Trenton Foods for many years. Many people will remember him for his love of fishing. He was a member of the Dockery Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mr. Steele is survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Steele was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Lillian Ford; and two brothers, Carl and Adron Steele.
