William E. “Billy” Grimes Jr., an 88-year-old resident of 1612 Cedar St. in Trenton, passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2002 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

William E. “Billy” Grimes Jr., an 88-year-old resident of 1612 Cedar St. in Trenton, passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2002 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, 2002 at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton. Pastor Bob Mohr will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

There is no scheduled family visitation.

Mr. Grimes was born on Feb. 11, 1914, the son of William E. and Parthelia Falls Grimes Sr. at Amarillo, TX. He attended Trenton schools. He was employed at Montgomery Ward for 25 years and then retired from Modine Manufacturing in Trenton. He lived in Trenton most of his life. On Dec. 14, 1962 he was married to Dixie Lee Taul at Trenton.

Mr. Grimes is survived by his wife, Dixie, of the home; five daughters, Minnie G. Grimes of Trenton, Parthelia M. Bonnett and her husband, Marty, of Trenton, Susan Hanes of Columbia, Alicia Grimes of Trenton and Darlene Hutchison and her husband, Charles, of Trenton; three sons, William E. Grimes III of Trenton, Brian Lee Grimes of Independence and Brad A. Collins and his wife, Tonya, of Spickard; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Otis Smith; and two daughters, Billie Jean Grimes and Paula Jean Grimes.
