Harlan “Kernal” Girdner, an 81-year-old resident of Princeton, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002 at the Princeton Care Center in Princeton.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002 at the Freedom Cemetery, northwest of Princeton. Rev. Gary Ponder Williams will officiate under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Princeton.
Open visitation and viewing will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. There is no scheduled family visitation.
Mr. Girdner was born in Saline on Dec. 18, 1920, the son of Ruth Girdner. He was raised in the Saline community by his grandparents, Wesley and Laura Girdner. He became a resident of the Mercer County Nursing Home at a young age, where he also worked as a farm hand on the county farm. He was transferred to the Princeton Care Center in December of 1976.
