Charles C. Cobb, an 80-year-old resident of Lenexa, KS passed away at 11:20 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, 2002 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, KS.

Charles C. Cobb, an 80-year-old resident of Lenexa, KS passed away at 11:20 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, 2002 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, KS.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002 at the Salem Baptist Church, northwest of Trenton. Gary Burchett will officiate. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery. There is no scheduled visitation at the Resthaven Mortuary.

Mr. Cobb was born on Dec. 19, 1921 at Gurdon, AR, the son of Ira and Nora Milloway Cobb. After being raised in the Jonesboro, AR area, he joined the United States Army Air Corp. He served in Okinawa during WWII and received a Purple Heart after being wounded in action against the Japanese. After his discharge he moved to California, where he married Willa Lee Johnson in April 1948. She preceded him in death on March 3, 1990. They lived all their married lives in California, where Mr. Cobb was employed as a tool maker for Northrup Aircraft in Hawthorne, CA. After his wife passed away, he moved to Lenexa, KS to be near his children.

Mr. Cobb is survived by two daughters, Diana Cobbs of Lenexa, KS and Janet Lee Lingo of Diamond Bar, CA; three sons, Steve Cobb of Louisburg, KS, Chuck Cobb of Montrose, CO and James Cobb of Fort Worth, TX; a brother, Doug Cobb of Jonesboro, AR; three sisters, Cleo Brinkley of Torrance, CA, Pauline Collins of Jonesboro, AR and Lola Kelly of Montrose, CO; and 10 grandchildren.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Salem Baptist Church.
