The 2002 North Central Missouri Fair will have something for everyone as this year?s events features a parade, carnival, livestock judging, grandstand entertainment and a baby show.

The fair gets under way on Tuesday, July 30, and will continue through Saturday, Aug. 2. Events will be held at both the fairgrounds and the North Central Missouri Saddle Club grounds, where a horse show will kick off activities at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. There will be competition in 34 classes as well as the recognition of the high-point individual in two age groups.

The fair parade will get under way at 6 p.m., beginning at 12th Street and Harris Avenue and continuing the traditional route down 17th Street to Main, south on Main to Ninth Street, then east on Ninth Street to Eastside Park. Entries are to be in line by 5 p.m. for judging. Individuals, businesses and organizations planning to have an entry in the fair can contact the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce office at 359-4324 until 5 p.m. on Friday, July 26. First- and second-place awards will be given in 20 categories.

The grandstand entertainment on Tuesday features ?Johnny Counterfeit,? an impressionist whose repertoire includes many current and past country singers. Tickets are available in advance for $5 and will be available the night of the performance for $8. Show time is at 8 p.m.

The Trenton FFA Boosters will hold its traditional whole hog barbecue at 6:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds. The cost of the dinner is $5 per plate, with all proceeds going to FFA-related activities, including scholarships and leadership programs for FFA members.

Wednesday?s schedule begins at 8:30 a.m. with the pee wee swine show, followed by the regular swine show at 9 a.m. The championship swine will be announced at the conclusion of the show later in the afternoon.

The grandstand entertainment will be bullriding, presented by White Buffalo Rodeo Productions. ?Mutton Bustin?? for children will be at 7 p.m.; with the bullriding to begin at 8 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults, $6 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children ages five and under.

A dog show at 10 a.m. at the fairgrounds gets activities rolling on Thursday. There will be prizes in 10 categories. The dairy show will be at 1 p.m. in the livestock pavilion.

Thursday night?s grandstand event features four-wheeler motorcycle races at 7 p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m. and there will be a $10 entry fee. First-, second- and third-place trophies will be awarded in each class. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children under five. Pit passes are $10 per person.

The ladies lead kicks off sheep show activities at 10 a.m., followed by the pee wee sheep show and then the regular sheep show around 11 a.m. The champions will be announced at the conclusion of the show.

The mudfest will be at the grandstand at 6 p.m., with prizes being awarded in the stock, super stock, modified and open classes. The entry fee is $25 per driver. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children five and under. A pit pass is $10.

The beef livestock judging begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the bucket calf show, followed by the beef breeding and steer shows. Champions will be announced at the conclusion of the show judging.

The Grundy County United Way will hold its annual baby show in the Trenton High School gym, with registration at 9 a.m. and the show at 10 a.m. Trophies and ribbons will be awarded in four age groups for both boys and girls from 0 to three years. There is a $5 entry fee per child.

Saturday night?s grandstand event features the annual demolition derby at 7 p.m., with driver sign-in at 6 p.m. There is a $25 per driver entry fee. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children age five and under. Pit passes are $15 and no one under the age of 18 is admitted into the pit area.

Arm band night will be from 7 to 11 p.m. on Tuesday and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Arm bands are now on sale at the Republican-Times office, KTTN, Citizens Bank and Trust, Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri, Farmers State Bank and both branches of U.S. Bank at a cost of $12. Those tickets will be available until 5 p.m. on July 30. Arm bands purchased at the fairgrounds will be $15.

There will also be fine arts, household and agriculture exhibits on display in the Rock Barn area while local and area merchants and organizations will have displays in the courtyard area of the Rock Barn throughout the week as well.
