Eugene F. ?Cotton? Ewing, a 77-year-old resident of Chillicothe, passed away at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe on Monday, July 15, 2002. He was a resident of Indian Hills Residental Care Center.

Eugene F. ?Cotton? Ewing, a 77-year-old resident of Chillicothe, passed away at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe on Monday, July 15, 2002. He was a resident of Indian Hills Residental Care Center.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2002 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe.
Friends may call after 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2002 and from 8 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 18 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
Mr. Ewing was born on Aug.19, 1924 near Purdin, the son of Otis H. and Ida Mae Plaster Ewing. He was a 1943 graduate of Wheeling High School. He was a member of the Wheeling Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1950, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Vern R. Glick Post No. 25 of Chillicothe. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk for 33 1/2 years. On Dec. 12, 1945, he married Margaret Ruth Mitten in Chillicothe. She preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 2001. Mr. Ewing enjoyed playing country music and was a past member of the National Fiddlers Association, an Honorary Chapter Farmer of the Chillicothe FFA Chapter and was associated with the Livingston County 4-H and FFA Fair for many years.
Mr. Ewing is survived by one son, Stephen Ewing of Chillicothe; three sisters, Wanda McDaneld of Hale and Mona Claussen and Joyce Dowell of Chillicothe; five grandsons, Jonathan Daniel of Tipton, Matthew, Jacob and Lucas Ewing of Bay Saint Louis, MS, and Seth Ewing of Olathe, KS; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Beau Daniel of Tipton; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Ewing was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Kenneth Gene Ewing and Martin L. Ewing; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
