Virgil D. Stoops, a 79-year-old resident of 603 Grundy in Trenton, passed away at 10:47 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2002 at his home after an extended illness with cancer.

Virgil D. Stoops, a 79-year-old resident of 603 Grundy in Trenton, passed away at 10:47 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2002 at his home after an extended illness with cancer.
The body was cremated and private memorial services will be held at a later date. Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Stoops was born on April 18, 1923 at Hopkins, the son of Frank and Mary Baker Stoops. He was married to Lois Jean Tharp on May 31, 1941 in Trenton. They had lived all their married lives around Trenton. Mr. Stoops operates a salvage yard and also was a self-employed trucker hauling sand and rock.
Mr. Stoops is survived by his wife, Lois Stoops, of the home in Trenton; two sons, Larry Calvin Stoops and his wife, Barbara, of Trenton and Jerry Lee Stoops and his wife, Patsy Marie, of Independence; one sister, Lela Stoops of Boise, ID; one brother, Raymond Lee Stoops of Zimmerman, MN; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Stoops was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
