Four Scouts Receive Eagle Award

Four members of Trenton Boy Scout Troop 97 received their Eagle Scout Award during ceremonies Saturday night at the First Christian Church at Trenton.

Four members of Trenton Boy Scout Troop 97 received their Eagle Scout Award during ceremonies Saturday night at the First Christian Church at Trenton.

Blake Stiles, Dustin Todd, Zach Anderson and Paul Vandevender were recognized during the ceremony, which was conducted by Dr. Curtis Cox and Bill Vaughn. The Rev. Daryl Mayfield, pastor of the first Christian Church, gave the invocation. Mrs. Betty Cox played the piano during the presentation and Dr. Paul Cox gave the Eagle Charge.

After receiving their Eagle Awards, the scouts were presented with resolutions from the Missouri House of Representa-tives by Third District State Rep. Jim Whorton, D-Trenton. Rep. Whorton also presented resolutions to Zach Walker, Derek Todd and Jason Sharp for their past achievements as Eagle Scouts.

Receiving palms for merit badges obtained above and beyond Eagle requirements were Dustin Todd, Paul Vandevender, Carl Ricketts and Jeffrey Smith, bronze and gold palms; and Blake Stiles and Jason Sharp, bronze palms.

A special presentation of a plaque of appreciation was also made by the four Eagle Scouts to scoutmaster Donnie Vandevender, thanking him for his dedication and commitment to their scouting careers. The evening concluded with a reception in the church fellowship hall.

Blake Stiles

Blake met all the requirements of the scouting program, including Arrow of Light, Boy Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star Scout, Life Scout and Eagle Scout awards. For his Eagle project, Blake painted playground equipment at Moberly Park in Trenton.

Blake has also held the leadership positions of quartermaster, historian and assistant senior patrol leader and participated in leadership training. He is presently a Runner in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, where his tribal name is Quiet Counsel. He received a yellow dance coup for three public dances and three practices.

Blake has earned 31 merit badges, including archery, atomic energy, aviation, basketry, camping, chemistry, citizenship in the community, nation and world, communications, cooking, emergency preparedness, entrepreneur, environmental science, family life, fingerprinting, first aid, forestry, geology, Indian lore, leatherwork, lifesaving, nature, personal fitness, personal management, pioneering, reptile and amphibian study, rifle shooting, shotgun shooting, swimming and woodcarving.

Blake is the son of Roxie Stiles of Trenton and Ed Stiles of Princeton. His grandparents are Peggy Tharp of Trenton and the late B.J. Tharp and Amber Stiles of California, MO and the late Harley Stiles.

Dustin Todd

Dustin met all the requirements of the scouting program, including Arrow of Light, Boy Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star Scout, Life Scout and Eagle Scout awards. For his Eagle project, Dustin constructed a baseball dugout at the Moberly Park baseball field.

Dustin has held the leadership positions of patrol leader, scribe, quartermaster and troop guide and participated in leadership training. He is presently a Runner in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, where his tribal name is Small Long Belt. He received a red dance coup for nine public dances and nine practices.

Dustin has earned 36 merit badges, including archery, atomic energy, aviation, basketry, camping, canoeing, chemistry, citizenship in community, nation and world, communications, cooking, electricity, emergency preparedness, environmental science, family life, fingerprinting, first aid, fishing, geology, home repairs, Indian lore, leatherwork, lifesaving, nature, personal fitness, personal management, pets, pioneering, pottery, reptile and amphibian study, rifle shooting, shotgun shooting, sports, swimming and woodcarving.

Dustin is the son of Randy and Stephanie Todd of Brimson. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Everett Curtis of Jamesport, Diane Ballard of Trenton and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Todd and Mr. and Mrs. Bob White, all of Brimson.

Zach Anderson

Zach met all the requirements of the scouting program, including Arrow of Light, Boy Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star Scout, Life Scout and Eagle Scout awards. For his Eagle project, Zach constructed a baseball dugout at Moberly Park baseball field.

Zach has held leadership positions of quartermaster, scribe and has participated in junior leadership training. He is presently a Runner in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, where his tribal name is Desert Horse. He received a red dance coup for nine public dances and nine practices.

Zach has earned 28 merit badges, including atomic energy, aviation, basketry, camping, chemistry, citizenship in community, nation and world, communications, cooking, electronics, engineering, environmental science, family life, first aid, geology, Indian lore, lifesaving, nature, personal fitness, personal management, pioneering, pottery, reptile and amphibian study, rifle shooting, shotgun shooting, swimming and woodcarving.

Zach is the son of John and Kelly Myers of Edinburg. His grandparents are Max Dean of Edinburg and the late Carolyn Dean, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Myers of Marshfield and Marilyn Anderson of Kansas City.

Paul Vandevender

Paul met all the requirements of the scouting program, including Arrow of Light, Boy Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star Scout, Life Scout and Eagle Scout awards. For his Eagle project, Paul removed and replaced seating walk planks on bleachers at the Burleigh Grimes baseball field at the Eastside Park at Trenton.

Paul has held leadership positions of patrol leader, quartermaster, troop guide and senior patrol leader and has participated in leadership training. He is presently a Runner in the Tribe of Mic-O-say, where his tribal name is Least Strong Bowman. He received a green dance coup for 100 public dances, a silver coup as outstanding tribesman and is a member of the Lone Bear Council.

Paul has earned 36 merit badges, including archery, atomic energy, aviation, basketry, camping, canoeing, chemistry, citizenship in community, nation and world, communications, cooking, electronics, emergency preparedness, engineering, environmental science, family life, fingerprinting, first aid, fishing, geology, home repairs, Indian lore, leatherwork, lifesaving, nature, painting, personal fitness, personal management, pioneering, pottery, reptile and amphibian study, rifle shooting, shotgun shooting, sports, swimming and woodcarving.

Paul is the son of Donnie and Debbie Vandevender of Trenton. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ferguson of Independence and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Vandevender of Trenton.
