The Spickard R-2 Board of Education met Wednesday evening, approving the 2002-2003 budget and offering contracts for two positions.
According to Board Secretary Makella Thompson, the board approved a budget that shows revenues of $639,747 and expenditures of $631,453, leaving a balance of $8,294. Amendments to the 2001-2002 budget were also approved, as was a transfer of funds from the Incidental Fund to the Teacher?s Fund.
In other business, the board reviewed the School Health Index survey, approved board policies and received copies of other policies for review. The board approved the Special Education Assurance Plan, discussed tuition rates and discussed caulking and sealing the gym wall. Hal Courter appeared before the board with his grandson, Willie Tunnell, who apologized to the board for vandalism at the school.
A contract was offered for a part-time guidance counselor and for a Title I instructor. The names of those persons will not be released until the contracts are signed.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for July 24.
