The Grundy R-5 Board of Education met in regular session Monday night, increasing the base salary, offering an elementary teaching contract and accepting bids for work at the schools.

The Grundy R-5 Board of Education met in regular session Monday night, increasing the base salary, offering an elementary teaching contract and accepting bids for work at the schools.
According to Board President Kim Oaks, a $1,000 increase to the base salary was approved and a 4 percent increase was given to non-certified staff. The board offered a contract to a candidate for the sixth grade teaching position, with that person?s name withheld until the contract is signed.
Bids were awarded to Terry Eaton for replacement of the preschool roof at a cost of $6,200 and for work in two rooms at the high school at a cost of $3,150. Lancaster Lumber was awarded a bid to repair the roof at the elementary school at a cost of $17,500. The board also agreed that the district will apply for a federal grant through the Small Rural School Achievement Program in the amount of $25,000.
The board held an executive session to discuss personnel, with no announcements made. The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 15.
