Grundy County township officials received information about public assistance available due to weather related damage during a meeting Tuesday at the courthouse.

Deputy County Clerk Connie McCloud said representatives from 10 of the county?s 13 townships attended the meeting, during which time townships were asked to fill out project worksheets, outlining the damage and what items have already been repaired. Mrs. McCloud said the worksheets would then be submitted to FEMA, which would review them and determine the reimbursement to be made.

Mrs. McCloud noted that two of three townships attending the meeting, Trenton and Madison, had indicated they did not have any damage that would be covered under the program while Franklin Township has not provided any information to the county.

FEMA will also have a meeting in Chillicothe on June 17 to discuss the Public Assistance/Infrastructure Program, which provides reimbursement costs of up to 75 percent for removing debris, conducting emergency activities and repairing levees, roads, bridges, utility and water control facilities, public buildings and parks in counties declared eligible for public assistance. The meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Livingston County Courthouse.

Grundy County is one of several area counties approved by FEMA for assistance. Other area counties include Chariton, Linn, Livingston, Mercer and Sullivan.
