Edna Teresa Laws, a 94-year-old resident of Bloomfield, IA, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2002 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2002 at the Coon Cemetery, southeast of Princeton, under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service. Rev. Jennie Vertrees will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service.
Mrs. Laws was born south of Princeton on Sept. 1, 1907, the daughter of Joseph and Evelyne Braffett Coon. She was a 1925 graduate of Princeton High School. She was united in marriage to Ova O. Laws in Princeton on Jan. 26, 1926. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1948. The couple lived on a farm in Mercer County until 1943, when they moved to the Tri-City, IA area. After her husband?s death, she moved to Bloomfield, IA in 1961 where she made her home with her son and daughter-in-law. She loved reading, working crossword puzzles and embroidery. She was of the Methodist faith.
Mrs. Laws is survived by one son, Olin Laws and his wife, Hazel, of Bloomfield, IA; one daughter, Letha McIntire of Madhill, OK; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Susie Stotts; one nephew, Gary Cox; two cousins, Helen Callen and Jennie Vertrees; and a very good friend, Lucy Hall, all of Princeton.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Laws was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Lois Woodley; two granddaughters, Kathy Woodley and Debra Laws; and one brother, Guy Coon.
