There?s a new face among the shelves of books at the Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library.
Lynne Moos began her duties as library administrator May 6, taking over the duties of Peggy Ausmus, who came out of retirement to serve as the interim administrator for the past three years. Mrs. Moos and her husband, Mike, recently moved from northern Wisconsin to the Spickard area, where they raise meat goats.
Ms. Moos said she had been serving as the director of a non-profit organization similar to Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Wisconsin and noted her library background was ?more as a user? than anything else. Since joining the library staff, she has found many reasons to be impressed.
?The building is just amazing,? she said when asked what she feels are the library?s strengths. ?So is the community support and I?m really amazed at the quality of the collection.?
Mrs. Moos praised Mrs. Ausmus? efforts to acquire and maintain an excellent collection of books, including best-sellers, and for assembling and training a very capable staff.
?Truthfully, all I have to do is come in and administrate,? she said.
Mrs. Moos noted that technology is becoming increasingly more important in the world of libraries and said grants are being sought to increase the technology available.
?We know there?s more to the library than just books,? she commented.
In discussing programs she would like to see implemented at the library, Mrs. Moos she hopes to develop a ?Friends of the Library? program, building on the community support and involvement that is so strong already.
?It?s going to be fun to find out what the interest is and then work from there,? she said.
