Murray E. Morgan, an 87-year-old resident of Princeton, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2002 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Murray E. Morgan, an 87-year-old resident of Princeton, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2002 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2002 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Rev. Guy Olin Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairley Cemetery, north of Princeton.

Open visitation is in progress at the funeral home. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Mr. Morgan was born in Mercer County on Dec. 20, 1914, the son of Claude Albert and Fairel Mae Derry Morgan. He was raised and attended school in the Cleopatra community of Mercer County and, as a young boy, moved to Colorado with his family. After his parents returned to Mercer County, he stayed and graduated from college in Grand Junction, CO with a degree in civil engineering. He worked for many years as an engineer in several states before returning to Mercer County in the late 1960?s to care for his aging parents. He was a member of the Fairley Baptist Church. He loved to fish, especially on the Russian River and the Deep Creek on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska, with his great-nieces and nephews.

Mr. Morgan is survived by one sister, Helen Dorland of Portland, OR; one niece, Sandra Overmyer of Portland; two great-nieces, Karen McBride of Portland and Tamara St. John of Houston, TX; and two great-nephews, Eric Taunt of Portland and Ira St. John of Coyhoga Falls, OH.

Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his parents and one niece, Maxine St. John.
