Chrystal Black Reed, an 87-year-old resident of Chillicothe, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2002 at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2002 at the United Methodist Church in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Chillicothe.
The family visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at the Norman-Wagy-Gordon Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Friends may call from noon to 8:30 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Reed was born on June 19, 1914 in Pleasanton, KS, the daughter of Frank and Maggie Bell Holmes Black. She graduated from Pleasanton High School. She was united in marriage to Charles Reed on June 8, 1932 in Pleasanton, KS. He preceded her in death in 1995. She was a homemaker and lived in Jamesport for 25 years, moving to Chillicothe in 1956. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Chillicothe and the Eastern Star in Jamesport.
Mrs. Reed is survived by two sons, E.L. Reed and Blackie Reed, both of Chillicothe; five grandchildren, Rickie Reed of Mission, KS, Tanya Bearden of Springfield, Darren Reed of Chillicothe, Robert Reed of Agency and Travis Reed of Chillicothe; and three great-grandchildren, Amanda Reed of Orrick and Ashlee and Allison Reed of Agency.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dee Black.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church Build the Vision. These may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family.
