Mildred Ruth Boxx, an 83-year-old resident of Princeton, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2002 at the Princeton Care Center in Princeton.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today (Monday, April 29, 2002) at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Rev. Jack Stark officiated. Burial was in the Kincaid Cemetery, south of Knoxville.

Mrs. Boxx was born on a farm south of Cowgill on June 27, 1918, the daughter of Daniel and Susan Hollingsworth Ballew. She was united in marriage to John W. Kincaid on March 2, 1937. He preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1976. On Sept. 9, 1977, she married Lester Boxx, who also preceded her in death. She lived most of her life in the Cowgill area, moving to Mercer in later years and then to Princeton. She was a member of the Cowgill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Boxx is survived by one daughter, Lois Sue Slaughter and her husband, Harold, of Mercer; one son, James Daniel Kincaid and his wife, Della, of Millville; two brothers, Ralph Harding Ballew and his wife, Marilyn, of Lawson, and David Lloyd Ballew and his wife, Patty, of Tampa, FL; three sisters, Hazel Lucille Barker and Lela Grace Bunteen, both of Independence, and Helen Marie Misel of Bonner Springs, KS; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Boxx was preceded in death by her parents; one son, William Leo Kincaid; three brothers, William Webster, J.D. and D.B. Ballew; and one sister, Pauline Dixon.
