Funeral services for Mattie Jacobs, a 90-year-old former resident of Trenton, will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2002 at the Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton. Revs. E.G. Garrett, Charles Hayton, Alvin Hillman and Gerald ?Jerry? Berry will officiate. Burial will be in the Johnsontown Cemetery, located north of Galt.

A family visitation will be held from 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26 until service time at the mortuary.

Mrs. Jacobs passed away early Tuesday morning, April 23, 2002 at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Mrs. Jacobs was born on Feb. 14, 1912 near Spickard, the daughter of Warren and Ethel Baugher. She was married to William Calvin Jacobs on June 16, 1935 at Galt. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1994. She was a farmer?s wife in the Galt community for years, later moving to Fort Scott, KS for a period of time, then back to Trenton, where they farmed. She moved to Kirksville, and back to Kansas City the past few years, where she resided in care centers, the last one being Lincoln Community Care Center. Mrs. Jacobs was a member of the Church of God Holiness in Kansas City.

Mrs. Jacobs is survived by one son, George E. Jacobs and his wife, Sheryl, of Trenton; one daughter, N. Ethel, now Mrs. Bill Allen of Warsaw; one sister, Lisette, now Mrs. Donald L. Pettit of Lone Jack; five grandchildren, Mark D. Spohn of Excelsior Springs, Sharon K. Spohn Honeyman of Tulsa, OK, Shelly M. Summers of Kansas City, Edward W. Jacobs of Overland Park, KS and Christie A. Vorderstrasse of St. Louis; and seven great-grandchildren, Jamie, Kateland, Christian, Matthew, Nickolas, Mattie Rosa and Corinne.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jacobs was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and five brothers.
