Garnet L. Lankford, an 88-year-old resident of Lincoln Manor Nursing Center in Chillicothe, passed away at 1:40 a.m. today (Wednesday, April 17, 2002) at the Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe. Mrs. Lankford was a former Trenton resident.

Garnet L. Lankford, an 88-year-old resident of Lincoln Manor Nursing Center in Chillicothe, passed away at 1:40 a.m. today (Wednesday, April 17, 2002) at the Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe. Mrs. Lankford was a former Trenton resident.
Graveside rites will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2002 at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Trenton.
There is no scheduled family visitation planned at the Resthaven Mortuary. General visitation will begin after 8 a.m on Thursday, April 18, 2002 at the mortuary.
Mrs. Lankford was born on Oct. 8, 1913 in Grundy County in the Forks of the River Community area, the daughter of Riley and Bessie Morrow Moore. She attended the Johnson Elementary School and Brimson High School. She was married to Lester Lankford on March 18, 1961 at Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1986. She had lived all her life in Grundy County and Trenton with the exeption of 20 years spent in Kansas City, where she was a clerk for Safeway Food Stores. She had been a resident of Lincoln Manor for the past six years. Mrs. Lankford was a member of the Spickard Chrristian Church and the Joseph L. Norton Post #919 VFW Auxiliary in Trenton.
Mrs. Lankford is survived by one foster son, Kenneth ?Buck? Sterling of Fresno, CA and by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lankford was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Carl Moore, who died in WWII.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Grundy County Senior Center. These may be left at or mailed to the Resthaven Mortuary at P.O. Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683.
