James R. Wilson, an 88-year-old resident of Meadville and former Spickard resident, passed away Friday morning, April 12, 2002 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.

James R. Wilson, an 88-year-old resident of Meadville and former Spickard resident, passed away Friday morning, April 12, 2002 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2002 at the Spickard Christian Church. Rev. Shannon Munday and Bro. Duane Campbell officiated.

Justin Nichols read a poem.

Renae Wilson was the soloist and sang ?The Old Rugged Cross? and ?When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder.? Jim Ingraham was the organist.

The pallbearers were Jimmy Nichols, Justin Nichols, Joel Spainhour, Chuck Long, Michael Nichols and W.A. Wilson

The honorary pallbearers were Lonnie Wilson, Casey Nichols, Coty Nichols, Nicholas Long, Aaron Long and Ryan Long.

Burial was in the North Evans Cemetery, east of Spickard.

Mr. Wilson was born on Aug. 11, 1913 in Grundy County, the son of Winfred Scott and Lena Zoe Johnson Wilson. He attended Grundy County rural schools. He was a farmer and also a painter. He lived in Grundy, Cass, Mercer and Linn counties. On Nov. 27, 1940, he was married to Mildred Eva Garrett in Trenton.

Mr. Wilson is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Lena Mae Spainhour and her husband, Donald, of Meadville and Mary Charleen Nichols and her husband, Billy James of Drexel; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sarah Rorebeck of Trenton; one brother and sister-in-law, Oral and Violet Wilson of Spickard; and two sister-in-laws, Freda Wilson and Joan Wilson, both of Spickard.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Charles Roy Wilson; one sister, Amanda Lea Deskins; and five brothers, infants Daniel and Paul, Alexander, Harmon and Russell Wilson.
