The Grundy County Nursing Home District Board of Directors filled board vacancies and elected officers during a meeting Tuesday night at the Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments.

Larry Griffin was appointed to serve two-year unexpired term on the board while Gary Dolan was appointed to fill a one-year unexpired term. Appointed to fill the three-year vacancies on the board because of no one filing for the April 2 election were current board members Phil Schlarb and Talma Holt, whose terms had expired.

Schlarb was re-elected chairman of the board while Jennifer Stickler was chosen as vice chairman. The secretary-treasurer is Kathy Flick and Chris Raynes is the assistant secretary-treasurer. Those same individuals will also serve similar offices for Senior City, Inc., which held its annual meeting on Tuesday night.

During the business meeting for the nursing home district, a bid was accepted from Lockridge, Constant and Conrad to do the district audit for the 2002-2003 year. It was the lowest of two received and is for between $14,000 and $16,100, depending on the amount of time required to do the work.

Administrator Denella Marlay reported the state survey of the nursing home and apartments was recently completed and that the facility received a very positive review. She complimented the staff for their efforts, noting that state officials continually talked about the friendliness and warmth shown by the employees.

The next meeting of the board will be May 14.
