Members of the Introduction to Theatre class at North Central Missouri College are providing technical support for the college?s spring play-Neil Simon?s two-act comedy, ?Rumors,? which will be performed April 5 and 6 in the Hoover Community Theater, located on the third floor of the Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library.

Kyle Easley of Elmer and Cale Lyons of St. Joseph are in charge of publicity and are also working on the set crew.

Other Missouri members of the set crew are Gary Albertson of Wheeling, Jessica McGraw of Hale, Michelle McMahon of Coffey, Chris Ruppel of Chillicothe and Darrick Hale of Houston. Two students from Trenton are also helping backstage, Amber Mathews and Daniel Tolle.

In addition to class members, Margo Mathews of Trenton is building the set and Adam Clark of Princeton will oversee sound and lighting.

?Off-stage work in vital to the success of any production,? the play?s director, NCMC instructor Dr. Vicki Wheeler, said. ?Building the set, creating programs, locating props and running lights and sound are as important as acting, although many people don?t realize the contributions of those who don?t appear on stage. As part of the Introduction to Theatre course, the students learn about the technical parts of theatre. Working on the production team gives them hand-on experience to go along with the theory.?

?Rumors? will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $3 for senior citizens, students and college and school staff and $4 for all others. Tickets are available in the Ketcham Community Center or by calling 359-3948, ext. 329.
