J.B. ?Bill? Carver, an 82-year-old resident of 730 W. 17th St. in Trenton, passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2002 at the St. Luke?s Hospital in Kansas City, where he had been a patient since Saturday.

J.B. ?Bill? Carver, an 82-year-old resident of 730 W. 17th St. in Trenton, passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2002 at the St. Luke?s Hospital in Kansas City, where he had been a patient since Saturday.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton.
Mr. Carver was born on July 16, 1919 near Harris, the son of Oral and Blanche Whan Carver. He was raised in the Harris and Newtown communities and graduated from Milan High School in 1939. Mr. Carver served from 1942 until 1945 with the United States Army during WWII. He served in the Battle of the Bulge with the 94th Division and was captured and served as a POW for several months. After his discharge he returned to the Harris area. On Dec. 18, 1945 he was married to June Carson in Independence. After their marriage, they farmed in the Osgood area for several years before moving to Humphreys, where they owned and operated the Carver General Store for three years. They moved to Trenton in August 1959. For many years, Mr. Carver was a firefighter for the city of Trenton and also owned and operated a carpet cleaning service. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Trenton and for many years belonged to the Joseph L. Norton VFW Post #919.
Mr. Carver is survied by his wife, June Carver, of the home in Trenton; one daughter, Joy Turner of Alameda, CA; two sons, John Carver of Tempe, AZ and Jim Carver of Kansas City; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Carver was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Maurine Barkley Feaster.
