The ?craziest show on Earth? is coming to the Trenton High School gym on Monday, April 1, as the Trenton High School Student Council will present an evening of donkey basketball.

The event begins at 7 p.m. and will see the Trenton Professionals team take on the Trenton FFA and the Trenton R-9 faculty taking on the THS Student Council in Buckeye Donkey Basketball. In this game, played on donkeys, there are no fouls, no out-of-bounds and no time-outs, as players, pass, shoot and steal the ball, block passes and shots, all while mounted on their donkeys.

Members of the Trenton Professionals team are Greg Cross, Dr. Bruce Whittle, Greg Dalrymple, Gary Hall and Chris Hoffman. The opposing FFA team includes advisers Brian Robinson and Dennis Gutshall, as well as Colby Epperson, Zane Jones, Jason Meeker, Brian Thompson, Wendell Klein and Clayton Anderson. Members of the Trenton R-9 Faculty team are Kris Ockenfels, George Moore, Beth Mack, Marcia Gutshall, George Brundage and Rich Griffith. The opposing Student Council Officers team consists of Daniel Gott, Charlie Bacon, Brian Selby and Tyson Thomas. The 2002-2003 Student Council officers, which include Eric Hoffman, Casey Beverlin, Kinnison McKay and Derek Spencer, will serve as the sanitation crew for the evening.

The donkeys include Honey Pot, Thunder Ball, Snuffy, Kilroy, Beetle Bomb, Super Stupid, Rigor Mortis and Elvis and are unique in their ability to either buck, duck, walk, run or lie down. Word also has it that the referees from Buckeye Donkey basketball are known to cheat.

The event begins at 7 p.m. and tickets will only be sold at the door. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students, and children under age six will be admitted free of charge with an accompanying adult. All profits from the event will be used to help the THS Student Council support senior night, homecoming and winter homecoming activities, school dances, philanthropic projects and many other school-related events.
