DIAL Screening For Preschoolers
The Trenton R-9 School District will offer a preschool developmental screening this spring for children ages three and four.
The screening will be held May 17 and May 20-22 at the First Christian Church in Trenton .
The D.I.A.L. -3 Screening is used to measure language, concepts and small and large motor development, with speech, vision and hearing also checked during the screening. Children grow at their own rate and when parents are familiar with both strengths and weaknesses of their child, they can provide the best opportunities for learning.
The children who participate in the screening and are age four by Aug. 1 may qualify for a free preschool program. Components of the program include half-day classroom sessions Monday through Thursday, quarterly group meetings, home or school visits and the use of the preschool toy and book lending library.
To schedule a screening appointment, parents may call the preschool at 359-2003. A copy of each child?s birth certificate and immunization record are required at the time of the screening.
For more information, persons may contact Lora Hudson at the preschool or at home, 359-6982.
