Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie E. Jones, an 89-year-old resident of 612 South Coleman, Princeton, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2002 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Chapel in Trenton. Russell Lee Joiner will officiate. Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery in Trenton.

Mrs. Jones passed away at 7:58 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2002 at her home.
Mrs. Jones was born in Pleasanton, IA on Nov. 18, 1912, the daughter of Harry and Maude Orey Hollinger. On Aug. 3, 1932, she was married to Dale Jones in Trenton. He preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 1992. She continued to live in Trenton until 1995, when she moved to Princeton to be near her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Jones owned and operated Jones Grocery Store in Trenton from 1943 to 1963. Mrs. Jones was a member of the First Baptist Church in Trenton for over 50 years. She was also a 30-year member of the Trenton Garden Club and a member of the Princeton Garden Club.
Mrs. Jones is survived by one daughter, Diane Gregory, now Mrs. Ronald Gregory, of Princeton; one sister, Myrtle Andrew of Leon, IA; one granddaughter, Ronna Clapham of Princeton; two grandsons, Dana Gregory of Princeton and Nelson Gregory of Marseille, IL; and five great-grandchildren, Sean, Scott and April Clapham, Angela Briegel and Zachary Gregory.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Frank Jones; three brothers, Bernard, Miles; and an infant brother, Elmer Hollinger.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church.
