Cleo Capitolia Torrey, a 97-year-old resident of Trenton, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2002 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Rev. Gary Ponder Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the Ravanna Cemetery at Ravanna.
Open viewing will begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2002 with family visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral chapel.
Mrs. Torrey was born near Ravanna on Nov. 13, 1904, the daughter of John and Neva Foglesong Cochell. She was united in marriage to Samuel Clair Torrey on April 26, 1924. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1991. She attended Laughlin Country School and Ravanna High School. They lived most of their lives in Mercer County, living in Putnam County for 10 years before moving to Princeton in 1962. She was a member of the Princeton United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Torrey is survived by three sons, Boyd Torrey and his wife, Colleen, of Spickard, Robert Torrey and his wife, Clio, of Overland Park, KS and Jimmie Torrey and his wife, Mae, of Kansas City, KS; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Torrey was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ester Cook and Alice McIntosh; one brother, Andrew Cochell; and one son, Lester Torrey.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Princeton United Methodist Church. These may be left at the funeral home or the church.
