Mrs. Lorretta Provance, an 89-year-old resident of Cameron, passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 27, 2002 at the Cameron Community Hospital in Cameron. She was a former Trenton resident.

Mrs. Lorretta Provance, an 89-year-old resident of Cameron, passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 27, 2002 at the Cameron Community Hospital in Cameron. She was a former Trenton resident.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2002 at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton. Rev. Randy Comer of Bethany will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Trenton.

Family visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Provance was born on Sept. 12, 1912 at Mill Grove, the daughter of James Clarence and Lulu Dell Newton Powell. She attended the Farmersville and Spickard schools. She had lived in Trenton, Jamesport, Gilman City, Chillicothe before moving to Bethany in Oct. 1990 and then to Cameron in 1998. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bethany.

On Nov. 1, 1930 she was married to Orrin Lester Provance at Edinburg. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1975.

Mrs. Provance is survived by one daughter, Mrs. E.C. (Arena Louise) Brokaw of Lowry City; one son, Hal Provance, Sr. of Cameron; one brother, James Ernest Powell of Houston, TX; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Provance was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mildred Wallace and Wanda Holgerson; and four brothers, Doyle Eugene Powell, Claud Aarron Powell, Cecil Clare Powell and Clarence Wayne Powell.
