Raymond H. Montross, a 77-year-old resident of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 at the Cameron hospital.

Raymond H. Montross, a 77-year-old resident of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 at the Cameron hospital.

The body was cremated. There will be a memorial service held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton.

Mr. Montross was born in Illinois on May 18, 1924, the son of Chester and Nettie Montross. He was a graduate of Illinois State, where he also received a master?s degree in music. He moved to Hamilton in 1993 from St. Louis. Mr. Montross was a music teacher in the St. Louis School District, a violinist for the St. Louis Philharmonic for a number of years and also taught violin and music. He served in the Army during World War II, in France as a medic and then later was recalled to service during the Korean Conflict. He was of the Christian faith.

Mr. Montross is survived by one niece, Martha Walker of Cameron; one nephew, Chester Morgan of Trenton; his caretaker, Bonnie Hill of Hamilton; close friends, Larry and Helen Meredith of St. Louis; and several other nieces and nephews.

Mr. Montross was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert; and one sister, Eleanor Morgan.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the donor?s choice or to the Parkinson?s Foundation.
