The Pleasant View R-6 Board of Education met Tuesday night, hearing a report on the visual arts program and approving an auditor.
According to Superintendent Dr. Lynn Kowalski, the board heard a report on the visual arts program by Lila Moore, art instructor. Board members visited her classroom, where student artwork was displayed and information presented on the artistic principles used in the work.
Board members approved Scott Stephens as the auditor for three more years and agreed to put funds into certificates of deposit. Dr. Kowalski gave a report on the one-year continuation of the Missouri School Improvement Program waiver, which allows the district to forego full-fledged MSIP reviews in favor of a visit from the state supervisor. Dr. Kowalski also gave a legislative update, noting that the governor and speaker of the house have pledged to support full funding of the Foundation Formula and encouraging board members to contact legislators to convey their support.
In executive session, the board conducted the superintendent?s evaluation, but have not taken any action. Dr. Kowalski still has two years left on a three-year contract.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Wed. March 13, which is a change in the regular meeting date due to a school basketball game.
