The Tri-County R-7 Board of Education met Monday night, changing a bus policy, accepting a bid for tuckpointing and accepting a resignation.

According to information supplied by Superintendent Ron Garber, the board approved a policy allowing students who live less than a mile from school to ride the bus, as long as they live on a bus route. The district will establish designated stops to pick up the students.

Board members accepted a bid from Mid-Continental Restoration Co. for tuckpointing the high school. The bid was for $77,400. Board members tabled the purchase of a new 35-passenger bus until the transportation committee can make a recommendation to the board on the three bids received, which were for $45,570, $43,380 and $44,350. The board also tabled bids for the propane line and tank installation.

In other business, the board accepted the resignation of Jackie Hostetler, fifth grade teacher, and agreed to advertise the old kitchen stove as scrap and sold as such. Board members decided to make a decision at the March meeting concerning the board vacancy, with three districts patrons, Ronnie Mann, Sandra Provorse and Stephanie Eckert, expressing interest.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., March 11.
