Students from four area schools will be competing statewide in science and technology events because of their success at the Northwest Regional Science Olympiad held in Trenton this past weekend.

Teams from Plattsburg, Gallatin, Lawson and Stanberry will travel to Columbia for state competition on March 16.

Approximately 80 students from eight high schools came to the North Central Missouri College campus Saturday to compete in 20-plus events. In addition to the state qualifiers, teams from Bethany, Gallatin, Lawson, Northeast Nodaway, Pattonsburg, Plattsburg, Stanberry and Trenton participated in events, which included physics, biology, chemistry, earth science and technology.

?Numerous faculty and community members contributed to the success of the Olympiad,? said coordinator Don Dalrymple, NCMC physical sciences instructor.
