Marie McCaslin, an 82-year-old resident of 308 Town & Country in Trenton, passed away at 9:27 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2002 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, where she had stayed since Jan. 17, 2002.

Marie McCaslin, an 82-year-old resident of 308 Town & Country in Trenton, passed away at 9:27 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2002 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, where she had stayed since Jan. 17, 2002.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002 at the First Christian Church in Trenton. Rev. Daryl Mayfield will officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Trenton.

General visitation is in progress at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.

Mrs. McCaslin was born on Feb. 14, 1919 at Klondike, TX, the daughter of Joseph E. and Bertha Irene Brown Simmon s?Mama Simmons.? She was married to Boyd ?Buck? McCaslin on March 6, 1944 at Abilene, TX. He preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1983. They lived in Brookfield a short while before moving to Chillicothe in 1946, then moved to Trenton in 1948, where she worked as an apprentice meat cutter along with her husband at the A& P Grocery until 1971. She also worked at IGA before she retired in 1979. She volunteered at Wright Memorial Hospital and was active with ther husband in the Trenton Lions Club. Mrs. McCaslin was a member of the First Christian Church of Trenton, Eastern Star #189 and the Green Hills Animal Society.

Mrs. McCaslin is survived by one daughter, Pat Latham and her husband, Lee, of Trenton; one son, J.B. Vaughan and his wife, Lucy, of Clyde, TX; one brother, Elbert Simmons and his wife, Opal, of Nolan, TX; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McCaslin was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Alona Latham.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church. These may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
