Clayton O. Davis, an 80-year-old resident of rural Trenton, passed away this morning (Monday, Feb. 11, 2002) at the Sunnyview Nursing Home.

Clayton O. Davis, an 80-year-old resident of rural Trenton, passed away this morning (Monday, Feb. 11, 2002) at the Sunnyview Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002 at the Liberty Chapel Christian Church. Burial will be in the Stucker Cemetery, south of Laredo.

Family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002 at the Slater Funeral Home.

Mr. Davis was born on May 13, 1921 in St. Joseph, the son of Marlin and Hazel Crabtree Davis. He attended McFall and Pattonsburg schools and graduated from Pattonsburg High School in 1930. On Dec. 12, 1943, he was married at Brownsville, TX to Norma Jean Lowery. She preceded him in death on March 18, 1989. He was a farmer and a member of the Liberty Chapel Christian Church. He was pastor of the Spickard Christian Church from 1962 until retiring in 1988. He also simultaneously pastored at the Jameson Christian Church from 1964 until 1974. He served with the United States Coast Guard during World War II.

Mr. Davis is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Connie) Urich of Bolivar; one son, Gregory Davis of Chula; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Dixie Havens; one brother, Marlin Davis, Jr.; and one sister, Mrs. Norma Tourney.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Chapel Christian Church in Trenton.
