The varsity boys led by six points at halftime but lost, 47-38. The junior varsity fell, 48-23, and the freshmen lost their final game of the season, 49-26.
THS Varsity
The varsity boys came out hitting on all cylinders on Monday night in Lawson. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 16-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.
?We came out and played well the first half,? Head Coach Richard Woods said. ?The boys led by six points at halftime.?
Lawson began to come back in the second quarter as they outscored THS, 13-11, giving the Bulldogs a lead at the half, 27-21. The bottom fell out for Trenton in the third quarter as Lawson?s inside game took over. Lawson outscored the Bulldogs in the third quarter, 13-5.
?In the second half they picked up the defensive intensity,? Woods said. ?They have a 6-6 and a 6-4 player who took over the game.?
THS managed only 11 points in the second half and lost the game by nine points. The Bulldogs were led by Trey Held with 14 points and Kyle Bortell added 12 points.
The Bulldogs fall to 1-16 overall and will host Putnam County tonight in the THS gym. The girls game is at 6 o?clock, with the boys game to follow.
THS Junior Varsity
The junior varsity team played Lawson to a 6-6 tie in the first quarter. The Cardinals outscored THS in the second quarter, 17-4, and went into halftime leading, 23-10. Lawson outscored Trenton in the second half, 25-13.
The junior varsity was led by Wade Peters with eight points. The junior varsity falls to 2-16 overall and will be at home Thursday night against Tarkio Academy at 5 p.m.
THS Junior Varsity
The freshman boys picked up a loss against Lawson in the final game of the year. The THS boys were led by Casey Kitchen with 18 points and Willie Tunnell added four points.
