The Grundy County Sheriff?s Department is seeking information in the burglary of several rural residences since the first of the year.

Deputy Rodney Herring said the first of the burglaries occurred Jan. 5 at the Charles Shields residence at 990 N.W. Highway 146, where a Stihl chainsaw and Craftsman tools where taken. On Jan. 19, a 7mm Magnum bolt action rifle was taken from the Robert Graves residence at 127 N.E. 70th. On Jan. 22, jewelry was stolen from Karen Bailey at 455 N.E. Fifth St., and an SKS assault rifle was taken from the Melissa Miller residence at 25 S.E. Highway V. The latest burglary was Feb. 2 at the Julie Parker residence at 720 Highway Y, where two Bear compound bows and seven rifles were taken. The rifles included a Smith & Wesson bolt action rifle, two Marlin semi-automatic rifles, a Ruger semi-automatic rifle, a Remington pump action shotgun, a Mossberg pump action shotgun and a CVA black powder rifle.

Deputy Herring reminded area residences to take precautions against burglaries such as securing windows and doors and asks that anyone who has information concerning these burglaries or the items taken to contact the sheriff?s department at 359-2828.
