Marjorie E. Smith, an 86-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002 at the Oak Grove Rehabilitation Center in Oak Grove.

Marjorie E. Smith, an 86-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002 at the Oak Grove Rehabilitation Center in Oak Grove.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002 at the First Christian Church in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens at Chillicothe.
There is no scheduled family visitation. A general visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
Mrs. Smith was born on April 7, 1915 in Sullivan County, the daughter of Clifford Linn and Gladys S. West Fisher. She was married in Gallatin on May 27, 1939 to Wood Dean Smith, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Smith taught in a Sullivan County rural school and from 1959 to 1977 she taught in the Chillicothe R-2 School District.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Rachael Circle, the First Christian Church, the Christian Women?s Fellowship, the Missouri State Teachers Association, the BP & W and PEO. She was also a volunteer with the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Brenda Bell of Oak Grove and Norma Parsons of Lincoln, NE; one brother, Forrest Fisher and his wife, Tudie, of Trenton; one sister, Mildred May of Milan; four grandchildren, John Michael Magie and his wife, Gayathri of Leawood, KS, William Wood Magie of Kansas City, Valarie Joy Johnson of Lincoln, NE and Molly Nan Garrison and her husband, Tyler, of Bozeman, MT; two great-grandchildren, Haley Johnson and Maya Magie; three brothers-in-law, John Smith of Hawaii and Paul Smith and his wife, Phyllis, of Galt, and Pete Smith of Milan; and four sisters-in-law, Thelma Street of Des Moines, IA, June Smith of Clarkston, WA, Nadine Fisher of Chillicothe and Erma Lee Tipton of Unionville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Paul Fisher, and one sister, Emily Tibbetts.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Christian Church at Chillicothe. They may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home at PO Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
