Tessie Will Make Prediction On Friday
North Central Missouri College?s annual Groundhog Day celebration will be a day early this year.
In keeping with a 15-year tradition, ?Trenton Tessie? will make her appearance on the NCMC campus this Friday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. in the Sugg Room of the Ketcham Community Center.
Before Tessie shows herself, various performances will be given. Professor Emeritus Tom Brown will give a musical rendition of ?Ode to a Dumb Animal? and storyteller Richard Ashenfel-ter will share a historical reflection about Groundhog Day. Prizes and awards will be presented to winners of campus activities held this week.
Tessie will make her end-of-winter prediction just outside the Ketcham Center?s east entrance at about 11:20 a.m. with the official observation made by NCMC science faculty. Following a long-standing tradition, Tessie will allow for a short interview with comments expected on her early arrival, continued displacement due to the Hoffman Hall project and other campus and world news.
Great Western Dining will serve a special Groundhog Day lunch in Selby Cafeteria following the festivities with many delicious surprises. The community is invited to participate in NCMC?s Ground-hog Day activities this Friday and see what prediction there?ll be for an early spring.
