Charles E. Lamme, a 70-year-old resident of 1623 Main St., died early Saturday morning, Jan. 26, 2002 at his residence from smoke inhalation due to a house fire.

Charles E. Lamme, a 70-year-old resident of 1623 Main St., died early Saturday morning, Jan. 26, 2002 at his residence from smoke inhalation due to a house fire.

The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002 at Resthaven Mortuary at Trenton. Rev. Daryl Mayfield will officiate.

A family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. A private family scattering will be held at a later date.

Mr. Lamme was born Feb. 18, 1931 at Trenton, the son of George and Louie Admire Lamme. He graduated in 1950 from Trenton High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He was employed by the Rock Island Railroad as a fireman and retired as an engineer.

Mr. Lamme was a member of the First Christian Church at Trenton and the Trenton Elks Lodge.

Mr. Lamme is survived by one daughter, Sue Samp and her husband, Dale, of Cairo; one son, David Lamme and his wife, Sheryl, of Waynesville; one sister, Willah Hickman and her husband, Lyle, of Appleton City; five grandchildren, Alicia, Andrew and Kyle Samp and Ethan and Michael Lamme; one niece, Jerri Campbell and one nephew, Wayne Hickman. Also surviving are Sue and Dave?s mother, Shirley DeVos; Stoney Bowers and Stacy Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society and may be left at the mortuary or mailed to Resthaven Mortuary, PO Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683.
