Mamie Pearl Smith, a 63-year-old resident of Milan, passed away Thursday afternoon, Jan. 17, 2002 at the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan.

Mamie Pearl Smith, a 63-year-old resident of Milan, passed away Thursday afternoon, Jan. 17, 2002 at the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002 at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan with Ovid Sharp officiating. Burial will follow in the White Oak Cemetery, south of Milan.

Family visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight (Friday , Jan. 19, 2002) at the funeral home, where friends may call after 6 p.m.

Mrs. Smith was born near Cora on June 7, 1938, the daughter of James Rex and Lula Ellen Brownfield Almond. On March 5, 1955, she married Willis Allen Smith in Brookfield. He survives. Mrs. Smith was a lifelong resident of the Milan area.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Smith is survived by five sons and their wives, Willis G. ?Butch? and Cherie Smith, Raymond Edward ?Harpo? and Debbie Smith, Kenny L. ?Roy? and Beth Smith and Wayne C. and Misty Smith, all of Milan, and Frank ?Bubby? Smith of Kirksville; 12 grandchildren, Brandy Goddard and her husband, Matt, Gingo Smith and his fiance, Staci Bowe, Jericho Smith, Wes Smith and his wife, Jennifer, Cegi Smith, Jeremiah Smith, Mariah Smith, Cody Smith, Laticia Smith, Dakota Smith, Destiny Smith and Brody Smith; one great-grandchild, Broc Smith; two sisters, Thelma Almond and friend, Percy Monahan, of Cedar Rapids, IA and Juanita Smith and her husband, Keith, of Kirksville; one brother, George Almond and his wife, Mona, of New Boston; two sisters-in-law, Kathern Creason and her husband, Donald, and Edna Lee Head and her husband, Bill; one brother-in-law, Ellis Carrol Smith and his wife, Irene; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild, Hannah C. Smith; one sister-in-law, Nina Kimmel; and one brother-in-law, Rick Smith.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the White Oak Cemetery or the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital.
