The Newtown-Harris Board of Education met Monday night, being interviewed by the Missouri School Improvement team.
According to information provided by Superintendent Andy Anderson, the board was interviewed by State Supervisor Ron McSorley and MSIP Team Leader John Weber. The district underwent its MSIP Review on Monday, with the review to end today.
Teacher reports were given by Misty Foster and Tim Cool and Danielle Busick, a junior, was chosen as the Girls State representative. Jacob Cain was recognized as student of the month. Board members agreed to have Walsworth Publishing Company publish the school yearbook and were notified that tuition that the Bethany Vocational-Technical School will increase by $922 per student for the 2002-2003 school year. Anderson thanked those who helped with the school clean up on Saturday and thanked the Church Women United for providing a meal for the MSIP team.
Five persons have filed for positions on the board, subject to the April 2 election. Those filing for the three seats are incumbents Steve Peterson, Macky Reed and Keith Hague, as well as Karen Andersen and Rachel Wells.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 13.
