Men from Milan and Green City were killed in a one-vehicle accident early Saturday morning on Highway 6 near Jamesport.
Joshua Truitt, 21, of Milan was pronounced dead at the scene while Lyle Bohr, 34, of Green City died approximately 90 minutes later at a St. Joseph hospital. A third person in the vehicle, Gail Hayes, 24, of Green City, was taken to Wright Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Saint Luke?s Hospital in Kansas City with serious injuries.
The Missouri Highway Patrol said the vehicle carrying the three men was eastbound on Highway 6 when it traveled off the south side of the road. The driver overcorrected, causing the truck to then go off the north side of the road and struck an embankment before overturning. All three men were ejected from the vehicle. The Highway Patrol is reconstructing the accident in an attempt to determine who the driver of the vehicle was as well as to determine whether or not charges are to be filed in the accident.
The bodies of both Truitt and Bohr were taken to the Jackson County Medical Examiner?s office so that autopsies could be done. The autopsies were requested by Daviess County Coroner Wally Green.
