Charles M. “Mac” Young died Oct. 9, 1999 at the Princeton Care Center in Princeton at the age of 80.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Salem Cemetery, west of Mill Grove. A long-time friend, Winton Lambert, will officiate.
Open visitation will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. There is no family visitation scheduled.
Mr. Young, the son of Lon and Kate (Minter) Young, was born on April 3, 1919 in Mill Grove. He was married to Vesper Neoma (Woodring) Bryan in November 1971.
Mr. Young attended school in Mill Grove and was a graduate of Princeton High School. He farmed near Mill Grove and later farmed near Chillicothe before becoming a meat cutter in Trenton for several years. He later moved to Branson, where he worked until his retirement.
Mr. Young returned to Princeton in 1996 and was a resident of Pearl’s Residential Facility until May 3, 1999, when he entered the Princeton Care Center. Mr. Young played minor league ball for the Ban Johnson League, and was a nephew of Cy Young, a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife, Neoma of the home in Princeton; two stepdaughters, Patsy J. Holt of Princeton, and Barbara Norton of Guthrie, Ok.; two stepsons, Dearn Bryan of Princeton, and Terry Bryan of Woodward, Ok.; a sister-in-law, Jenny Mae Owen of Kansas City; and a nephew, Billy Cockrell, and a niece, Mary Sue McGee, both of the state of Texas.
Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lucille Cockrell; and a half brother, Phillip E. Owen.
