The Grundy County Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday to welcome the Trenton High School alumni and their families who will be in Trenton for the annual school celebration.

The museum will also be open on Sunday and Monday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Special exhibits include the extensive display of high school memorabilia, including class pictures, news reports and yearbooks. There is a complete file of the THS Alumni News, including the September 1999 issue that features a salute to Coach Gary Ferguson, written by Class of 1974 member Tony Brown.

As a tribute to the Veterans of Foreign Wars 100th anniversary, the museum is displaying an exhibit mounted by the local Joseph L. Norton VFW Post 919, under the direction of Bob Greiner, past post commander and museum board member.

One board contains authorized shoulder patches donated by post members, along with a master poster of every patch issued by all Armed Forces units. Also shown is the POW/MIA flag.

Just received this week is the Millennium 2000 calendar, commissioned by the Grundy County Historical Society. The drawings were made by 1970 THS graduate Barry Wayne Kenady and Missouri Ozarks artist James Burkhart. The cover shows the restored museum building, which was donated in 1974 by the late Rose and Bert Hoover.

The monthly depictions include well-known buildings in the area, dating from 1885 to 1932. Several of the buildings no longer exist. Others have been restored and are an important part of our heritage.

Board members Ellen Dolan and Marian McCarty are in charge of the displays.
