Blaine Bennett, 99, a resident of the Hickory community, southwest of Trenton, died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Lincoln Manor in Chillicothe, where he had been a resident since June 22, 1999.

Blaine Bennett, 99, a resident of the Hickory community, southwest of Trenton, died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Lincoln Manor in Chillicothe, where he had been a resident since June 22, 1999.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the Dockery Chapel United Methodist Church, southwest of Trenton. Burial will be in the Edinburg IOOF Cemetery.

A family visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.

The Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home of Trenton is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bennett was born on Dec. 12, 1899 in Browning, the son of Guel and Mildred Merrick Bennett. He was married to Velma Smith on March 1, 1933 in Laredo. They farmed in the Shafter, Haseville and Laredo communities before moving to their farm, southwest of Trenton, in 1958. Mrs. Bennett died on Oct. 12, 1998.

Mr. Bennett was a member of the Dockery Chapel United Methodist Church and the Edinburg IOOF Lodge.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Gardner and Marjorie Ishmael, both of Laredo; a daughter-in-law, Colleen Bennett of Trenton; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by a son, Max Bennett, and a sister, Lila Donoho.

The family suggests contributions to the Dockery Chapel Church in memory of Mr. Bennett.
