Eugene R. Cross died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at his home in Lock Springs at the age of 69.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Freeport City Cemetery in Freeport, Il.

Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 o’clock this evening, Aug. 30, and until service time on Tuesday.

Mr. Cross was born on March 23, 1930 in Parkersburg, W.Va., the son of Clyde Cross and Beulah Lamp. He was married to Mary Green on Sept. 16, 1976 in Freeport.

Mr. Cross worked as a truck driver for the Intercity Box and Plastic Company in Freeport. He served in the United States military in the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953, and was a Prisoner of War. He was a former member of the Freeport Moose Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; three sons, Clyde Cross, and wife, Jeanne, of Freeport, Roland Cross of Miami, Fl., and Douglas Cross; three daughters, Yolonda Cross, and companion, Frank Whalen, and Melinda Marcum, and husband, Michael, all of Freeport, and Arlene Masters, and companion, Ralph Lawson, of Rockford, Il.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Sherry Lamp, and Marvin and Donna Lamp, all of Freeport; three sisters, Alberta Shattuk of North Carolina, Luella, and Joann; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Cross was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter; and one brother.
